From Alexandria to Rome
Cleopatra Selene was the twin sister of Alexander Helios. Following Octavian’s victory, she was taken to Rome and raised by Octavia Minor alongside other members of Antony’s family.
Queen of Mauretania
Augustus arranged her marriage to Juba II, ruler of Mauretania. Their court at Caesarea combined Ptolemaic, African, Greek, and Roman traditions. Coins issued in her name provide direct evidence for her exceptional royal status.
